چکیده

The results of S5 combined right and left heart catheterizations in normal dogs and dogs with experimental mitral stenosis are presented. Animals lived as long as 10 months with elevated pulmonary vein pressures. Pulmonary vein pressures in excess of 15 mm. Hg were associated with mitral orifice areas which were smaller than those found in normal animals. Elevation of pulmonary vein pressure was associated with a decrease in the pulmonary vascular pressure gradient, with no change in cardiac index as measured and with a decrease in calculated pulmonary vascular resistance.

بررسی یافته‌های اکوکاردیوگرافی در بیماران مبتلا به حوادث عروق مغزی حاد

Background and Objective: Cerebrovascular accidents are one of the most common causes of disability and mortality in human population all over the world. Several factors such as age, sex, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and heart diseases are risk factors for stroke. ِDue to high prevalence of cerebrovascular accidents and its related risk factors and particularly heart diseases, we decided to stud...

Immediate Results of Percutaneous Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty in Patients with Mitral Stenosis

Introduction: Mitral stenosis is a prevalent valvular disease in developing countries. Percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty (PMBV) is the gold standard treatment. The main objective of this study was to assess the initial results of PMBV in patients with mitral stenosis during 16 years (2002-2018) in Mashhad, Iran. Materials and Methods: From April 2002 to March 2018, 770 patients underwen...

Analysis of left ventricular function in response to afterload changes in patients with mitral stenosis.

In order to assess left ventricular function in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis, left ventricular function curves (plotting stroke work index vs left ventricular end-diastolic pressure) were constructed using angiotensin to augment, and nitroprusside to reduce, afterload. Hemodynamic responses to these alterations in afterload were measured. Resting ejection fractions and qualitative as...

Pacman Heart as a Congenital Cardiac Defect Associated with Flail Mitral Valve and a Partial form of Shone\'s Complex; A Case Report

Partial muscular inter-ventricular septal defect (VSD) or Pacman heart is a rare congenital or occasionally acquired anomaly. Concurrent Pacman heart and Shone's complex are extremely rare and have never been reported until now. We described a 37-year-old male patient with congenital Pacman heart, flail mitral valve (FMV), and a history of multiple congenital anomalies, including subvalvular ao...

Mitral stenosis with high left ventricular diastolic pressure.

Three patients with mitral stenosis are described, in whom the haemodynamic findings at cardiac catheterisation were more suggestive of left ventricular myocardial disease, in that the left ventricular diastolic pressure was high and the mitral valve gradient small. However, their echocardiograms showed abnormal wall movement during diastole characteristic of severe inflow obstruction, with slo...
